Da-da's 2017 Back-to-School Fashion EXTRAVAGANZA
![]() |
| NONE of these people will ever get abducted by ETs... or they already were, so it doesn't matter. |
Nothing says EVOLUTION-in-ACTION like back-to-school fashion 2017. Talk about fin d'siecle. I suppose this could all be a reaction to people NOT wanting to be abducted by ETs or what have you, or perhaps they're so bored that they're one step away from wearing old appliance boxes with arm-holes cut out. Anyway, here are Da-da's picks for 2017's most incomprehensible (and mostly male, since Da-da has boys) fashion that you hope you never see in person -- and especially hope no one in your family actually paid retail for. What's most interesting is that it's getting more and more difficult for men to look *unintentionally* stupid: gene-pool removal seems to have become a conscious choice of late. Probably for the best. Here we go:

Nothing says, "HUH?" like kids back-to-school fashion... well, except maybe for "election" year confusion. Anyway, here are Da-da's picks for most incomprehensible (mostly male, as Da-da has boys) fashion that you hope you don't see on your kid's campus. Anyway, here we go:
To begin with, we have this lovely mylar/skyscraper trash/dehumanization motif:

Chills, Tingling, Ringing? Muscle Spasms? Clown Heads?
A serious question for all: have you had any unexplained chills, tingling, muscle spasms lately? A loud ringing/buzzing in the ears? Strange dreams? Clown visitations? All of the above? Don't worry, you're probably not sick. In fact, it's more than likely a good thing... except for the clowns.
You may or may not believe in this kinda stuff, but these are apparently symptoms of an energy upgrade. Some call it Ascension. Some call it insanity. Da-da didn't believe it at first, but we've already entered a highly energetic region of space (as of December 2012), and we're swimming in energy right now. Many can FEEL it, and they're not psychics. (Some can't feel it, but they're mostly grumpy magicians.) Sure, some of us wear pointy hats and dance around trees, but who doesn't? Check out what it's doing to a third of the stars in the Milky Way. This is apparently the beginning of an energy swell that's to increase dramatically over the next 60 days. It's unavoidable. (It's also technically coming from INSIDE you, but that's a whole other post.)
If you're experiencing tingling, etc., note that you're probably NOT dying. Or strapped to a gurney. In extreme cases, you might feel out of touch with your body, or even floatiness, as if you're floating above your body. If you suddenly develop a CLOWN HEAD -- or more than one -- seek help immediately, preferrably from circus folk.
NOTE1 (The Disclaimer): If you have multiple symptoms as above AND have sweating, cold clammy skin, shortness of breath, nausea, headaches, or pain of any kind, you probably should contact your doctor. Use common sense. Da-da is not a doctor.Da-da himself is ERUMPENT with clown heads, so do the math.
NOTE2: (The Warning): Be Warned. This energy may affect people of low-trending vibration in a negative way, as it will be putting light pressure on them, and if someone is dark-focused, this energy may make them agitated or crazy. If you see someone behaving strangely, keep away from them.
Needless to say, MEDITATION is important right now. Go to it. You can even get kids into the act... or at least get them to go to sleep. For the record, Da-da and his boys -- and many people he knows -- are feeling these kinds of affects right now. It's either that, or these kids REALLY need to get BACK TO SCHOOL ASAP, extraneous clown heads notwithstanding.

Jocular Pumpkin Loaf Spice Mass Day Llama Thing -- AGAIN
Today is Lughnasad, aka Lammas Day, aka Loaf Mass Day, marking the beginning of Lammastide, which is either the Gaelic Autumn harvest festival, or a special day to honor llamas. No idea if llamas were named such because they were used for harvesting crops, but these days who knows? Anyway, since it's loaf-mass day, Da-da's mass is loafing. He might make pumpkin spice muffins later though. Here's the recipe from last year, when Da-da was a lot funnier. Ah, well. Everything has its season. At least Da-da got to change the wreath on the house.
So, WHY does Da-da mention what some might see as an obsolete harvest festival? Two things:
1. The planet's weather is changing and shorter growing cycles of yore might become the norm, and...
2. It marks the beginning of BACK TO SCHOOL preparations!

"Preparing Them For Success and Happiness"
...and...
"College Prep Begins in Kindergarten"
...and Da-da's favorite...
"Don't Let Your Child Be Left Behind."
Ah, fear. Parenting and fear. Da-da had no fear until he had children... so, it must've been in there all along? But, "preparing them for success and happiness"? At best, the above words in red are a myopic inaccuracy; at worst, a manipulative lie, designed to sell you a high-priced education via FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt). Da-da can't send his kids to insanely priced private schools, but he can give them a leg up by being there for them, and teaching them everything he knows... which isn't much, admittedly, but might make them more fun at parties. Or standing in the eye of the hurricane.
Da-da doesn't know about you, but besides preparing his kids for, "SUCCESS," he's also preparing them for those times when they're NOT successful, or happy. Because, like Dr. Suess says, it will happen quite a lot.
A neverending stream of extreme happiness and success is untenable... and maybe even a bit boring. But how would Da-da know, right? It's trite, but Life is an amazing, horrible, thrilling, tedious, boring-as-hell roller coaster that may very well fail while you're riding it. Let's go with that a moment.
Roller coasters aren't all about thrills. You usually have to first drive a ways to get to one, pay a price to get near it, drink $6 sodas and eat $12 hot dogs, then stand in line a looooong time, exercising those boredom and patience and auto-entertaining muscles. When you're finally there, strapping yourself into the seat requires a bit of courage -- and precision, so you don't fall out. Enduring those various flavors and odors of humanity around you works your forgiveness mojo. The ride itself invokes fear -- one of the two human common denominators -- as well as thrills, centripetal and centripedal forces, getting barfed on, etc. Then there's the end of the ride, the inevitable part where the cars slow and prepare to disgorge you back into the unwashed masses, a little queasy and dizzy. Up and down, round and round... and back to square one: welcome to Life! If you can prepare kids for this, you're doing well.
Thus, Da-da encourages both unstructured play vs. structured play, as one teaches reinforces creativity, the other patience and, "the social game." Might as well call it what it is. Da-da's children won't be deliriously happy, or hideously successful. Da-da hates extremes. "Happy" is such a lame, vague, overused word. Da-da hopes his children will be content. Content, patient and resilient... with a bit of non sequitur.

Fall Comes Early and Drinks All Day
For the third year in a row, Da-da's trees started changing color on July 1st. Da-da has noticed pre-autumn leaves on both the East and West Coasts of the U.S. Anyone international readers having similar observations? Da-da's pet theory is that, since the sun's output has lessened so dramatically over the past 20 years, deciduous trees are indicating an onset of global cooling -- however, this could be regional. Global climate change will feature both hotter hots and colder colds. We'll have to wait and see.
