The Quincunx Has Fallen and It Can't Get Up

For the FIFTH year in a row, Fall has come early to parts of the Northern Hemisphere (in some places, Winter never left), arranged its half-decade neatly into a box and is waiting patiently for someone to wake up and smell the Hyperboreans. Yes, this is Year Five of leaves on Da-da's trees changing early and dropping late May/early June. What does this mean? Well, if you share an open mind with Da-da, you might wonder if half-a-decade's instance of early Fall is significant, juryrigged climate data notwithstanding.

That's it. Just an observation, and lots of questions:
  • Will anyone ever remember the definition of quincunx?
  • Will the sun's slumber continue?
  • Will solar lethargy combine with the 50+ volcanoes going off (adding enough gas and dust to the upper atmosphere) to make Winter 2015 one of the worst in recorded history?
  • Are we on the verge of The Next Ice Age?
  • Will Da-da EVER get World Series tickets?
Da-da knows the answer to at least one of those questions. Koyaanisqatsi, indeed.

Where's Your SolarMax Messiah, Now? [UPDATED]

Can you hear the sun snoring? It helps to remove the fingers from your ears.

Folks, Da-da doesn't care what the MSM says: the sun is going to sleep. It's at the peak of its so-called, "solarmax" and has nary a sunspot. Solar wind output is greatly reduced. 10.7 cm flux is in the cellar, and Bz is pointing in a decidedly non-Viagra direction, with the earth slowly following suit. If we all decided to burn every politician and alphabet agency on the surface of the planet, it still wouldn't warm things up if the sun doesn't cooperate... but it would probably make some people feel better. (Don't forget: felons are your brothers, too.)

Regardless of what humans do about their fallacious "carbon footprints" (which are about money and power and control), be sure to check the bottom line: the sun provides the earth with energy. If its output is lessened, the earth gets less energy. Less energy means LESS ENERGY. As in not more. Which means COOLING, not heating. And perhaps a mini-ice age. And a healthy change of management.

Besides all the virtually ignored cooling data, for the 8th year in a row, the leaves on Da-da's trees have turned and fallen early -- June 1st this year, a whole month earlier than the last three years. Now, if various governments could only stop playing with the weather like they know what they're doing (they don't), we could see how our little planet is going to react to this reduction in solar output; we'll be seeing this soon, as things are dramatically changing in that arena.

For those who still maintain a quailing, capitalist mindset, Da-da suggests you invest in sled manufacturers and companies that make green houses; alas, Monsanto won't be around much longer, so you might want to short that stock. Afterward, you might also want to try practicing meditation. It will invariably come in handy. Then again, for those who balk at that ontological gate, there are always white russians and loooong winters, again and again, until you finally learn your lesson. Don't worry, you will. Your future may vary -- a lot.

[UPDATE1: As of 7/19/2014, the sun's global X-ray output has dropped by a factor of ten. This has NOT, Da-da repeats, NOT affected bowling scores around the country, but you never know.]

[UPDATE2: Meanwhile, these folks continue to tow the party line, their data notwithstanding. We'll all see who's right eventually.]

Fall Fell Hard and Left No Forwarding Address

Another early fall on the horizon? Leaves started falling off Da-da's trees on June 1st again,
third year in a row. Da-da's suggests everyone buy a reeeeally warm winter coat this year.

The End of Hot Shoes?

Da-da's been warning of this for a while now, ever since the sun began showing signs of changing its polarity underpants. Jeez, hurry up. Because of this growing geomagnetic sympatico, and what with all the extra solar megawattage streaming into the earth's poles (making lots of pretty auroras), we've already seen increased earthquakes, but we might begin seeing more instances of volcanism, too.

Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano (say that three times fast) has now been joined by Puyehue volcano in Chile. These aren't major eruptions, but if there are a few more like this (or worse) in the same hemisphere, then something's up down deep and our little interglacial epoch will invariably reap the climatic fruits... jeez, who talks like that? Bleah. Basically, the planet is already trying to cool naturally, and a few more volcanic pops will turn that cooling mechanism into a serious Frigidaire maquiladora. No need to panic, o'course. It's just Earth 2.0, now with Weather 2.0! These minor alerts are merely FYIs designed to predict future rain jacket sales and generic hunkerability requirements. Your shoes were already on fire, lady... but maybe not for long.

Those hot shoes might be cooling off.

A Groundhog Puzzlement

It's official: the Pantomime Groundhog (much more accurate than its silly Punxy celeb-cousin) emerged from his den early this morning and saw just what you'd expect...

...Lord Mountbatten doing farm-tai chi in front of really convincing pantomime cows. Yup. So. Sorry, folks... a whole 'nother year of... whatever happens when an allegedly deceased English hero does farm-tai chi before pantomime cows.

The OTHER Pantomime Groundhog, kept as part of a pantomime animal control group, arose this morning to see...

Climatewise, Da-da's pretty sure this means, "BUCKLE UP, TIMMY" for 2011. The conehead snowmen are gunnin' fer ya.

Ok. So that happened. Time for a G-Day refreshment break.
